Here are presented a series of didactic proposals developed and aimed at supplying schools and summer centres for kids with educational and engaging tools to get to know and discover the Fortress of Vinadio.
These activities include moments of training, experimentation and confrontation involving different age groups, from playschool to secondary school.
Its majesty the Fortress
Playschool
1 h 30’ / € 6 per child
Children will have the opportunity to learn the history of the Fortress led by the silhouettes of the mascot Tino, the Dove Sergeant of the Fortress. With the aid of a poster-book they will have fun discovering the history and curiosities of the military fortress with various sensory interactions. The didactic tour will end in the « decompression » area of the Fortress, which is a new space designed for a rest and relax.

The smuggler of the Fortress
Playschool, Primary School
1 h 30’ / € 8 per student
Children will be divided into teams and, once inside the Fortress, will be given a bag and an illustrated map to help them search and collect particular objects that in the past were considered exchange commodities among smugglers.
This is a real treasure hunt along the “Montagna in movimento” (Mountain in motion) multimedia itinerary. At the end of it, each team will receive a certificate of participation.

Multimedia rhyme itineraries
Primary school (1st and 2nd year)

This is a guided tour of the multimedia itinerary “Montagna in Movimento” (Mountain in Motion) and the exhibition “Messaggeri Alati” (Winged Messengers) with the support of an illustrated map, challenging nursery rhymes and riddles to solve. The solutions to these puzzles will allow you to move forward along the itinerary, as well as learn new things by playing and sharpen your mind!

The soldier’s diary
Primary school
1 h 30’ / € 6 per student
Sergeant Tino will be the children’s guide in the discovery tour of the Fortress. The cute dove’s silhouettes will accompany children through different stages discovering anecdotes and curiosities about the Fortress history up to the premises where the military dovecote has been rebuilt. Each child will be given an educational booklet full of activities, which will turn the Fortress tour into a travel diary.

Mountain in Motion and Winged Messengers

This guided tour of the multimedia itinerary “Montagna in movimento” (Mountain in Motion) and the exhibition “Messaggeri Alati” (Winged Messengers) shows the mountain as a dynamic and permeable environment, a place of exchange, a crossroads of people, ideas, crafts, arts and innovations in contrast to the stereotype of a still, fixed and unchanging Alpine world, condemned either to extinction or to become an attachment of the widespread urban sprawl.

This guided tour by “La Fabbrica dei Suoni”(The Sound Factory) combines rhythmic and musical parts to make the Fortress history and its stories more lively, dynamic and appealing.

Discovering the Fortress

This tour focuses exclusively on the Fortress history in the period between the 19th and 20th centuries. The path is about 1,000 metre long and leads to the “Caverna Comado” (Command Cave), which has recently been reopened to the public.

Vinadio Virtual Reality
I and II grade secondary school

Two virtual reality stations offer children and teenagers an innovative Fortress tour experience. One position simulates a free flight around the fortified building, the other one offers the opportunity to interact with the entire complex which has been reconstructed in 3D. The Fortress history is told by a narrative voice along with the display of 19th century espionage photos. The participants will also visit the “Caverna Comando” (Command Cave) of the Fortress, which is a bunker built in the 40s of 20th century.

The missing letter
I and II grade secondary school

In 1833 an important letter written by the parish priest of Vinadio went missing inside the Fortress walls…Thanks to the Kurubik app, the participants will engage in an amusing and exciting rescue mission based on real events. Smartphones will turn into useful tools to explore the surrounding reality in search of hidden clues leading to the final solution of the mystery.
